How it all began!
The name of my venture is "Who Nit Ya!. It's a familiar term where I grew up, it was often said when someone was asking about your background. Who are your parents and where do you live?.
An appropriate name for genealogy don't ya think, as we uncover who are our ancestors and how they helped shaped our lives by what they did for a living and where they choose to live.
My research started in 1990, just after my dad passed away. He always wondering where his grandparents came from. Sadly, he never got to see any of my work so I could tell him about his ancestors.
This website and all of my research work I dedicate to mom and dad.
Many visits to the archives, dusting off old documents, trying to decipher the various handwriting has turned into the use of online research. Now, with the ability of getting your DNA tested it has turned into a whole new field of research. This is one that I have embraced and make use of on a daily basis.
To date I have nearly 90,000 individuals in my database. I use Reunion software as my database which has many built in tools, included charts, timelines, reports and book making reports. For my clients I produce professional quality book reports which is easy to read and follow, with indexes of names and places. The book can be tailored to your liking.

Leveraging from our 30 plus years of research and the database of 89,000+ individuals we can help you build your own tree. The database of individuals are all over the globe but are mainly concentrated in Atlantic Canada. This database could then form the basis of your tree on ancestry.com.

Creating ancestor reports
We use the software"Reunion" as our genealogy "family tree" application. The reports and charts availably generate beautiful and easily readable family history reports. The reports can be in hard copy or electronic. The electronic version is fully HTML linked to both external sources and internal to the document.

Building your family tree

Back in the early days of building my family tree I had pieces of paper everywhere. Created charts to establish how everyone fitted into the tree, it was horrible. I bought my first family tree software in 1991 and have tried many others since. Currently I'm using Reunion software that I find wonderful to work with and produces beautiful reports. For some of my clients I have made a poster-size chart of the family ancestors which can be dry-mounted and ready for hanging.
When I do client research I also capture spouses of relatives and research their family tree also. Typically I find their ancestors are related by marriage or part of the direct line of ancestry of the client. Point of note, when you share ancestors with some of your distant cousins it will also askew the DNA shared results. If you decide to take the DNA test I can help you understand the results of your test.
The range of my client base is Atlantic Canada and my research is worldwide. In my research I have identified people from many walks of life, rich and famous, lords and ladies, politicians and ordinary folk like the most of us. Through DNA research I do sometimes find relatives that are unknown to family members. I approach the client on how they wish to handle it before I go deeper.
To get you started I usually require some personal knowledge of parents and grandparents. The first report back as far as your Great Grandparents will be provided to you at no cost. Iterations of the report as we flush out details are also at no cost. Further research of ancestors and distant cousins will be negotiated on fee for service basis.
My research will be limited to the documents that are available online or at the local archives. If research at local archives are required all costs associated with the research will be billed at actual costs, no markup.
Creating ancestor reports
Would you like to have a family keepsake with your family relatives and ancestors neatly recorded?
The reports can be as detailed as you would like or as slim as you wish. Depending on the report you desire it can range from a few pages with condensed information that usually are 10-50 pages or detail reports that can range in the hundreds of pages.
The reports can be produced with pictures as the client desires. The size and format will have to be determined by the limits of the software and produced by the client. In some cases pictures are available online, before they get used I will work with the client to assure satisifaction.
